About this course

Do you have a button tin? Has it been passed on from a family member, this is a fun and creative way to use them and give them a new life! During this session, you will make a button brooch (maybe even a pendant). We will also look at skill development and crafting precision, which can be used to create a crafting business. This is a great way to use buttons to create something new and keep memories of items alive. No Previous skills required but you will be using a needle and thread. We will also look at other options that can be created using spare buttons.

What will you achieve by the end of the course? -

Demonstrate Practical Assembly Skills: learners will successfully create and complete at least one button brooch using appropriate stitching or adhesive techniques, ensuring structural integrity and durability. - Achieve Consistent Finishing: learners will produce a brooch with uniform stitching, clean edges, and secure fastenings, following quality standards suitable for retail or gifting. - Utilize Recycled Materials Effectively: learners will complete a button brooch using at least 80% repurposed or upcycled materials, demonstrating an understanding of sustainable crafting practices. - Evaluate Environmental Impact: learners will assess the environmental benefits of using recycled materials versus new materials in handmade crafts. - Develop Pricing & Branding Strategies: learners will calculate the cost of materials and labour for their brooch and propose a selling price that ensures sustainability and profit in a craft-based business. - Create a Mini Marketing Plan: learners will outline three potential sales or promotional strategies for selling handmade button brooches.
