About this course

The festive season will be here soon, why not try some macrame! You could use these projects as a way to relax from the stress of Christmas or spark of idea to start a mini craft business. The focus of this course will be on 3 main macrame knots. In the course the projects are designed to introduce you to Double Half Hitch, Square Knot and Half Knot, using 3mm twisted ply macrame cord and some additional items (check the materials requirements)

So don't get into Knotts about Christmas; take the time to relax with this Christmas Macramé mini course. Macrame is a relaxing and therapeutic craft, as it keeps your hands busy and gives your mind time to rest. There is no previous experience necessary to complete this course, just a desire to have a try, as we will go over the basic knots. You receive a list of materials once you book the course. - this is project-based course, and these are difference projects from previous years; this year the projects will be either tree or wall decorations

What you will need to bring to the course:

Macrame cord - require 3mm twisted ply cord (requirements for projects), but can be worked in other style of cords. Projects are Poinsettia or Christmas rose, Holly and wreath (Red, green and natural or all natural/white will work)

Galvanised Steel Garden Wire 1.2mm or 1.0mm Cooper Wire - approximately 1.5m

Double Wire Flower wreath Useful - but will be available to use from tutor

Knotting Board/Cork board

T – Pins or holding or masking tape

Tape measure

Scissors

Residency in England

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must be living in England permanently and live outside of the devolved areas listed below or live within the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) devolved area (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire).

Residency Eligibility – other criteria

If you are living in the UK on a visa we will require evidence of this in order to be funded for the course, you can upload this evidence when you apply for the course. (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

Some exceptions may apply for example

  • Your visa expiry date must be beyond the end of your course

  • Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered by the Home Office

  • You are receiving local authority support under section 23C or section 23CA of the Children Act 1989 or the Care Act 2014

Any learner who is not funded full cost fees would apply to these courses.
