This course will provide you with a simple introduction to using a computer in a patient and supportive atmosphere. Your journey will start at the very beginning as you learn how to turn a computer on and off correctly. We then move on to cover the essential skills required to operate a computer, including how to use the keyboard and mouse correctly.
Additionally, you will discover and explore some helpful websites and get started with using the internet and emails.
You will learn how to type text and numbers on a computer keyboard. The course will also teach you how to navigate your computer and carry out other basic operations using the keyboard. Additionally, the classes will teach you the proper mouse grip and mouse navigation techniques.
Once you understand the fundamentals of using a keyboard and mouse, you will be able to search the internet, browse websites, check your email, and utilise other online services. You will be given the most recent information on how to keep your device and yourself safe and secure while you explore our fascinating online world.

Residency in England
To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must be living in England permanently and live outside of the devolved areas listed below or live within the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) devolved area (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire).

Residency Eligibility – other criteria
If you are living in the UK on a visa we will require evidence of this in order to be funded for the course, you can upload this evidence when you apply for the course. (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
Some exceptions may apply for example
Your visa expiry date must be beyond the end of your course
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered by the Home Office
You are receiving local authority support under section 23C or section 23CA of the Children Act 1989 or the Care Act 2014
Any learner who is not funded full cost fees would apply to these courses.
