What are the aims of the course?

Did you know it's National Kite Day in February?

Join us for this FREE 2-hour family session at Newark Buttermarket this February half term. We will be using both our maths and creative skills to make our very own kite to take home! This is a fun relaxed session for both adults and children over 5 to join in together.

No need to pre-book, just drop in on the day!

What will be covered on the course?

During this session, you will get the opportunity to use your mental maths knowledge and measuring skills to make a paper kite. Our tutor will show you how to make symmetrical patterns using tissue paper to decorate your kite before taking it home to fly!

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

On completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Construct a 2D shape out of paper
  • Practice their mental maths
  • Cut paper to make a symmetrical pattern
  • Engage in learning with their responsible adult

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

Children must be mature enough to start learning their times tables, take part in making activities, and engage with fun explanations. Adults must be accompanied by a child (a maximum of two children per adult) and children must be accompanied by an adult.
