After such an awful 2020, the aim of this course is to help you find a little more peace, a little more space, and a little more joy through writing creatively.

As well as discussing the way that writing can improve your wellbeing, we’ll use a range of prompts and idea sparks to help us write out our stresses and experience the benefits of exercising our creativity for ourselves. What will be covered on the course?  What will be taught to learners?

  • The different ways that writing can be used to improve your wellbeing, including fiction, poetry and journaling
  • Techniques for conquering your inner critic and building a regular, supportive writing practice
  • A variety of writing exercises during sessions, as well as ideas for finding your own inspiration and writing sparks

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

  • You will have experimented in a whole heap of different writing genres and styles, including poetry, short stories, written sketches and positive journaling
  • You will be able to identify the benefits that a regular writing practice
  • You will be able to list ways to generate your own creative writing sparks for inspiration

Just the practice of putting pen to paper can be soothing, so you’re encouraged to have a notebook and pen to write in for sessions. During the course, you might also be asked to find items to use for writing prompts, but these will be flexible and easily available around your own home.
