About this course

This 6-week beginner’s crochet course offers a step-by-step journey into making your own small project using traditional and decorative crochet techniques.

Starting with the very basics, you will be guided through foundational stitches such as the chain and double crochet (UK terms), progressing to treble crochet and textured combinations. As confidence grows, you will explore granny squares, decorative stitches and simple shaping techniques.

The course also covers how to arrange and assemble individual crochet squares into a finished piece, including joining techniques and edging options.

By the end of the course, you will have a collection of completed squares that can be made into a cushion, lap blanket, or other creative item.

No prior crochet experience is required. This course is suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to refresh their skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

What you will need to bring to the course:

  • One or two balls of Double Knit (DK) yarn in the colour of your choice (light or mid-toned colours are best for beginners as they make the stitches easier to see)

  • A 4.0mm crochet hook

  • A stitch marker for later weeks – this can be a safety pin or old looped earing.
