On this course you will learn how to hold a crochet hook and yarn/wool to create a purse or bag.
You will learn a variety of crochet stitches and how to sew the sides up to make a small purse/bag/glass case or pencil case.
We will learn about the history of Crochet and gain an understanding of the different terminology used for English and American crochet stitches and crochet hook size conversion, US & UK.
Whilst working towards creating a small bag of your choice, you will learn how to create different stitches including a single, double, treble and slip stitch.
This course is ideal for people who are starting out on their crochet journey – no previous experience is required!
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Demonstrate how to hold a crochet hook and yarn/wool.
Create a small bag of your own choosing, using a variety of different stitches.
Develop fine motor skills and identify how they can be transferred into a work environment.
Perform a single, double, treble and slip sticth. Confidently convert hook sizes from UK to US and identify the difference between UK and US patterns.
What you will need to bring to the course:
notebook and pen, a crochet hook size 4/4.5/or 5, light-coloured yarn/wool

Residency Eligibility – other criteria
If you are living in the UK on a visa we will require evidence of this in order to be funded for the course, you can upload this evidence when you apply for the course. (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
Some exceptions may apply for example
Your visa expiry date must be beyond the end of your course
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered by the Home Office
You are receiving local authority support under section 23C or section 23CA of the Children Act 1989 or the Care Act 2014
Any learner who is not funded full cost fees would apply to these courses.
