About this course

The course is intended to teach absolute beginners how to take their first steps in crochet.  We will cover the basic steps to begin a crochet piece such as how to hold the crochet hook and yarn to maintain tension, how to make the basic crochet stitches (half, single, double and treble) and how to read patterns in both UK and US format.  Whilst exploring the brief history of crochet, we will work towards simple crochet projects including strips, squares and circles.  

Learners will:  

- Develop a way of working with the crochet hook and yarn which suits them. 

- Have practised making chains and working stitches into them 

- Know how to make basic crochet stitches 

- Know how to make a ‘magic circle’ 

- Be able to read and follow a crochet pattern 

- Undertake simple crochet projects including different crochet stitches, lines, squares and circles 

- Know how to take their interest in crochet further. 

Learners should bring a Crochet Hook and Yarn which is available from any craft, wool or knitting shop either online or in person retail outlet.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
