This course is for adults who already have some experience using Excel and want to develop their skills further for everyday work tasks. It is designed to build confidence and independence, helping you use spreadsheets more effectively in a practical and supportive group environment.
You will extend your existing knowledge of Excel by working with more detailed spreadsheets and developing your ability to organise and analyse information. The course focuses on step-by-step learning, with clear explanations and time to practise, while encouraging you to work more independently.
You will explore a wider range of Excel features, including improving your use of formulas, working with different types of data, and using formatting tools to present information clearly. The course also introduces simple ways to check accuracy, improve efficiency, and manage information more effectively in a workplace context.
By the end of the course, you will feel more confident using Excel for a variety of everyday tasks and better able to apply your skills in work or personal settings.
Learning outcomes:

Entry requirements:
You should have some basic experience of using Excel, such as entering data, using simple formulas, and formatting cells. This course is suitable for learners who have completed a beginner course or have equivalent knowledge.
What to bring:
You may wish to bring a notebook and pen to take notes. You will need a charged laptop or PC with an internet connection for the live sessions on Teams. You will also need access to the Excel spreadsheet programme.

To book and join one of our courses, you must live in England permanently and either:
Live outside the devolved areas listed below, or
Live inside the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) area (Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire).
You cannot enrol if you live in these devolved areas:

Residency Requirements (Additional Information)
If you live in the UK on a visa, we’ll need evidence of your visa to confirm funding. You can upload this when applying, and you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire.
Some exceptions include:
Your visa must last until after your course ends.
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for at least 6 months while their claim is being processed.
You are supported by your local authority under Section 23C or 23CA of the Children Act 1989, or under the Care Act 2014.
Anyone who does not meet the funding criteria would need to pay full course fees.
