About this course

To build confidence in painting using maths, including squaring up an image, using shapes from nature, using angles to create perspective and rule of thirds in composition. 

What will be covered on the course? 

• Starting with small projects such as postcards, learners will study the impact of correct proportion on the eye;- 
• Using shapes to help draw forms, 
• Using grids to square up and down images 
• Recognising Fibonacci sequence used in composing artworks. 
• Exploring methods of creating perspective 
• Demonstrating correct ratio in colour mixing 
• Analysing different shaped brushes to create patterned strokes. 
• Learners will go on to create their own watercolours using a combination of these techniques. 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 

None just an interest in painting. 

This course is for people who don’t have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above). You will self-declare this on the enrolment form.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
