How To Use Your Apple iPad Tablet - West Bridgford Library - Adult Learning

This course is for adults who want to learn how to use an Apple iPad tablet with confidence in everyday life. It is designed for beginners and those who would like to make better use of their device.
The course provides step-by-step guidance in a friendly and supportive environment. You will learn how to use the main features of your iPad, including navigating the touchscreen, adjusting settings, connecting to Wi-Fi, and managing apps.
You will also explore how to use your iPad for communication, entertainment, and everyday tasks.
Through guided activities, you will practise using features such as email, internet browsing, video calls, taking photos, and downloading apps. The course will also cover important online safety topics, helping you protect your personal information and use your device securely. The sessions are easy to follow, with plenty of opportunities to practise and ask questions.

By the end of the course, you will feel more confident using your iPad independently and will be able to use it to stay connected, access information, and complete everyday tasks more easily. 

Learning outcomes

• Use the main features and settings of an Apple iPad with confidence

• Access the internet, send emails, and communicate using apps

• Stay safe online by understanding basic security and privacy settings

Entry requirements 

No previous iPad experience is required. Basic confidence using a touchscreen device would be helpful, but not essential. This course is only for Apple devices, not other brands.

What to bring 

Please bring your Apple iPad, charger, and Apple ID details if you have them. A notebook and pen may also be useful for taking notes. If you have another brand of device, this will not be covered.

Living in England

To book and join one of our courses, you must live in England permanently and either:

• Live inside the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) area (Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire)

or

• Live outside the devolved areas listed below

You cannot enrol if you live in these devolved areas:

• Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)

• Liverpool City Region Combined Authority

• North East Combined Authority

• South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority

• Tees Valley Combined Authority

• West Midlands Combined Authority

• West of England Combined Authority

Residency Requirements (Additional Information)

If you live in the UK on a visa, we’ll need evidence of your visa to confirm funding. You can upload this when applying, and you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire.

Some exceptions include:

• Your visa must last until after your course ends.

• Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for at least 6 months while their claim is being processed.

• You are supported by your local authority under Section 23C or 23CA of the Children Act 1989, or under the Care Act 2014.

Anyone who does not meet the funding criteria would need to pay full course fees.
