About this course

This course follows on from the introduction of Indian Block Printing.

Using the hand craved blocks from Indian we expand your skills on pattern formation, creating layers and depth in your projects. We will discuss the uses for your prints in your craft projects, you can print onto papers or fabrics so this style of printing can be used in many other projects such as journal making, card making or patchwork. You can also print on ready-made clothing to update your wardrobe; the limits are up to you.

What will be covered on the course?

Over the course we develop learners' analyses patterns and look at the look at Pattern Theory – how it is an underlying structure in culture and the environment around us.
Be able to identity patterns by repeating units; symmetry, rotation, reflection, tessellation of shapes.
Learners with gain understanding of the pros and cons of difference paints on the market.
Look at ideas of using waste paint
Also look at layering methods for designs
Develop techniques of masking, using stencils and reverse printing

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Gain understanding equipment;
Know how to print with wooden blocks
Knowledge of Pattern theory & Formation
How to create depth to printed surface

Learners will require the following equipment -

Fabric
Paint
Paper, Card to print on to
Stencils
Gelli Plate and Brayer
