Heard about apps but not sure how they could save you money? 


Want to make a payment via your smartphone but not sure what to do? 


Join this smartphone course and build up your confidence with money, numbers and payments. Getting the most out of your smartphone could help you get a job, save you money on transport costs or help you complete an online form. 


What are the aims of the course? 


You will,

  • discover different smartphone functions 
  • learn about different digital payment methods 
  • explore possible security risks 
  • find different money saving websites and apps 

What will be covered on the course? 


The session will cover, 

  • Smartphone features (calculator, calendar, alarm clock) 
  • Ways to pay (debit, credit, digital wallet, paypal, direct carrier, Klarna)  
  • Delivery costs / options (postage, delivery date / time / location - distances)  
  • Entering payment details (1:1 number correspondence, DOB/date formats, calendar drop down date selection)  
  • Online payment internet safety considerations (encryption, how to spot a fake website) 
  • Good money saving websites and apps  

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 


By the end of the session, you will be able to, 

  • Name 2 different ways to pay online 
  • Use an alarm clock and calculator on a smartphone 
  • Enter card details correctly 
  • Name 2 ways to keep your payments safe online 
  • Name a money saving website or app 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 


This course is for people who don’t have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above). You will self-declare this on the enrolment form 


As this course is about using a smartphone – you will need to bring a full charged smartphone to the course each week 


On completion of this course, you will be entered into a monthly prize draw. The winner will receive food shopping vouchers.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.


To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years


Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).


As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
