About this course

This short course 4-week course is about enjoying learning about your smart phone camera and using your camera. It is designed to be a fun light hearted day whilst creating some great photographs using inexpensive small projects. This course assumes learners have no previous experience of photography.

What will be covered on the course? 

  • Smart phone cameras and exploring the settings.
  • Exploration of shutter speed, depth of field, and ISO to improve your photography skills.
  • How to use and upload images to Padlet.
  • Photography using coloured lights and filters.
  • Use of recycled materials to make creative filters.
  • Exploring; oil and water photography.
  • Splash photography.
  • Creative fruit and veg.
  • Water droplet photography.
  • Photographing movement.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

  • Learners will be able to use their camera to photograph small creative projects which they can reproduce at home using simple ingredients and household equipment.
  • Learners will have a range of photographs from which they can choose their favourite to be displayed in our virtual display space.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

  • No previous knowledge required.

You will need:

  • A smartphone with a camera or a camera.
  • A tripod if you have one or want to bring it.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
