About this course

You will explore the art of poetry and discover your unique voice in verse. If the idea of writing puts you off, you’ll learn ways to share your poetry ideas without even picking up a pen. All abilities are welcome. You will explore themes that matter to you, learn how poetry works, and find creative ways to express yourself. Whether you’re a total beginner or curious about writing for the first time, this course will help you connect with poetry in a fun, relaxed, and supportive way.

This course offers a welcoming and creative space to explore poetry in all its forms. You’ll be introduced to a variety of techniques such as using imagery, rhythm, metaphor, and sound play. We will explore different styles of poetry and creative exercises that spark ideas—some with words, some using voice, sound, or even visual prompts. You’ll learn how to gather inspiration from everyday life, and how to develop your own poetic voice.

No prior writing experience is needed, and there will be space to share your work if you choose to, but never any pressure. Each session will help build confidence and show that poetry is for everyone—not just traditional writers.

Please bring with you to the course:-

Please bring a notebook and pen. A smartphone may also be useful for voice notes, looking up ideas or taking part in creative tasks—but don’t worry if you don’t have one.
