About this course

The aims of the course is to allow learners to “dip their toes” into the complex world of sociology. We aim to look at some of the more common theories in sociology and examine the world around us, through the lens of those theories. 

What will be covered on the course?  What will be taught to learners? 

• An overview on functionalism, Marxism and Feminism 
• Theories on the family 
• Health and illness 
• Religion 
• Inequalities 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

• An initial understanding of what sociology is, and an understanding of how the main theories differ.  
• Allowing the learners to look at the world around them through the theorists’ eyes. 

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 

• None

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
