About this course

This course will provide you (parents, grandparents, carers and any person who works with children who have additional needs ie, Autism, ADHD, mild or complex learning difficulties and disabilities) with the opportunity to create a book called “All About Me”. This is an on line course that can be accessed from the comfort of your own home.

The book is designed to help you share vital information with other people who support and care for your child (ie, in school, nursery, childminders, family and friends) understand some of the best ways to help.

It is your guide and a starting point to gather important information about your child to ensure they are given the best possible care and support when entrusted with others.

The sessions are for adults who can then use the template and ideas to create the book with their child (as appropriate).

What will be covered on the course?

Understand how important it is and have the confidence to share information with people supporting a child with additional needs.
Promote positivity and creative ways to share information.
Identify some of the best ways to explain the needs of your child so that others can help support you and your child.
Add text, images, and photographs to page templates.
Identify ways to involve the child and siblings (as appropriate) in the creation of the book.
Links will be made to the national curriculum on how to embed creativity, self-concept and self-worth, communication, decision making and express feelings and emotions.

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

By the end of the course the learners will have created a book of important information so that others understand how best to support a child with additional needs.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

Basic knowledge of using a computer to add text, photographs and images to a document. A willingness to share knowledge and ideas about some of the best ways to help a child with additional needs.

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
