About this course

What are the aims of the course?

This 5-week course aims to support learners whose first language is not English, to learn employability and life skills to help them transition into employment or further training.

Our tutors will support you – as an ESOL learner - to overcome the barriers you face to securing sustainable employment.

For example, by helping you understand the best way to get to work, completing job application forms and understanding your wage slips.

What will be covered on the course?

During this course, you will cover a range of subjects which will support you with your work. Subjects covered include,

Getting to work

Reading timetables
Understanding the 24H clock and duration
Useful transport apps and money saving tickets.

Applying for a job

Completing online forms
Looking at different numerical data formats (DOB, dates)
Listing previous employment chronologically.

Budgeting

The cost of getting to work and being at work e.g., transport costs, childcare, lunch etc...
Useful apps to help with budgeting
Understanding a wage slip.

The course is aimed at adults aged 19 and above who don’t already have a level 2 (GCSE grade C/4 or above) or equivalent qualification in Maths or don’t feel confident using Maths at that level

Note: There is no course on 16th February, due to half-term

Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking. If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
