This course is an intermediate guide to learn how to produce a sugar craft peony.
You will learn skills and techniques to produce a realistic peony flower to enhance any special occasion cake with step-by-step instructions.
We will explore the stages of making the centre stamens, learn skills and techniques to cut out and vein the petals and add colour and shade. You will learn how to assemble the stamen and petals to create a beautiful peony to enjoy with friends and family.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
• How to produce the centre stamens for the peony.
• How to produce the petals for the peony.
• How to assemble the flower and add colour to the completed peony.
What you will need to bring to the course:
Squires sugar paste - white
3 different sizes of peony cutters
Peony veiner
Small sponge
20 Stamens per flower small with slightly larger ends (Petal dust- Primrose yellow and buttermilk mixed)
Rolling pin
Board
Ball tool
Cell pad
Edible glue
24-gauge wire
Craft knife
Wire cutters
Petal dust- pink, yellow, green or colours of choice
Florist tape green
Spoons for drying the petals
Plastic container to store petals so the paste doesn’t dry out
Scissors
Apron
Something to carry home in
Note pad and pen.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must be living in England permanently and live outside of the devolved areas listed below or live within the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) devolved area (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire).

Residency Eligibility – other criteria
If you are living in the UK on a visa we will require evidence of this in order to be funded for the course, you can upload this evidence when you apply for the course. (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
Some exceptions may apply for example
Your visa expiry date must be beyond the end of your course
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered by the Home Office
You are receiving local authority support under section 23C or section 23CA of the Children Act 1989 or the Care Act 2014
Any learner who is not funded, full cost fees would apply to these courses.
