About this course

This course is designed for learners who wish to know how to use word processing software to input, structure, format, and present documents effectively.


Students will learn how to enter, edit, and combine text and other information accurately within word processing documents, structure information within word processing documents and use word processing software tools to format and present documents.


Please bring:

  • Notepad and Pen

If you have not studied Word before there is an ‘Introduction to Word’ course, you may want to attend first to give you some basic skills in the programme.


On completion you could move onto Excel or PowerPoint skills courses.

Booking your place and fee information

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

  • Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield 
  • Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
  • Greater London
  • Greater Manchester
  • Liverpool City Region
  • Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland
  • Tees Valley
  • West of England
  • West Midlands
  • West Yorkshire


1) FREE - if you earn less than £20,319 gross salary or are on a means-tested benefit.

2) PAYMENT HELP AVAILABLE - if you earn more than £20,319 (annual gross salary) but are on a low-income, we might be able to help pay part or all of your course fees. Email: learning@inspireculture.org.uk for an application form or if you have any questions.

3) CO-FUNDED - if you are on a higher-income, the government will pay approximately half of your course fees.
