About this course

Are you getting to Knotts about Christmas; then take time to relax with this Christmas Macramé mini course.  Macrame is relaxing and therapeutic craft, as it keeps your hands busy and gives your mind time to rest.   

You will learn the basic knots needed to get started with macramé and by the end of the course you be able to complete our own Christmas Projects – great for adding a natural touch to your Christmas decorations. 

There is no previous experience necessary to complete this course just a wiliness to have a try, as we will go over the basic knots. 

You receive a list of materials once you book the course. - this is project-based course, and these are difference projects to the 2022 course.

At the end of the course learners will have an understanding of some the equipment & materials available.  At the end of the course learners will had the chance to try some mini projects to create Christmas decorations 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?   

  • Be able to Identity and demonstrate the basic Macrame Knots – Larks Head  
  • Be able to Identity and demonstrate the basic Macrame Knots – Square Knot 
  • Be able to Identity and demonstrate the basic Macrame Knots – Gathering knot 
  • Be able to Identity and demonstrate the basic Macrame Knots - Double Half Hitch 
  • Develop/Use counting skills & measuring – Be able to measure cord required for the projects 
  • Completed some Christmas Theme projects in Macrame 
  • Develop/improve their eye and hand coordination 
  • Analyse the benefits of creative activities to improved mental health  

Within the course learners will gain an understanding of; 

  • Macrame equipment 
  • Macrame knots 

None of the items are essential but the ones with (*)= recommend to get the best of the course 

Materials & Equipment Required: 

  • Macrame cord (*) - require 3 or 5mm twisted ply cord (requirements for projects) 
  • Alternative – Piping cord, Parcel String is great to practice with, alternative macrame cord, or jute cord

  • General – detail one to follow 
  • Knotting Board/Cork board  
  • T – Pins or holding pins (useful but not essential – tutor has some to use in class) 
  • Bauble  
  • Curtain ring

  • Scissors

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
