With a core focus on music, dance and digital arts Inspire Youth Arts (IYA), creates, produces, and delivers high quality arts opportunities for young people to participate, watch, create and perform. We deliver regular weekly sessions, bespoke projects and unique opportunities for young people living in Nottinghamshire.

We are actively seeking to expand the pool of freelance artists we work with and are interested in meeting artists who are passionate about providing high quality arts opportunities for young people.

We are looking for professionals with specialisms in music making, sound production, DJ, singer/songwriters, composition skills and those in the dance industry who work in dance & movement-based practices and choreography. We welcome hearing from music and dance artists working with a variety of genres and techniques and those who have a genuine interest in supporting best practice when working with young people.

We are interested in meeting those who want to lead and engage young people in creative sessions and opportunities in various contexts, including mainstream and SEND schools and colleges, community and health settings, and at our base at The Old Library in Mansfield (which houses a professional recording studio, theatre and studio spaces). The Inspire Youth Arts programme often supports young people to perform at events in theatres, music venues or festival settings,

Inspire Youth Arts strives to places access and inclusion at the heart of our work and encourages artists who identify as Deaf/Disabled and/or neurodivergent to attend. Please get in touch to discuss any access support needs.

We would like to invite those interested to a short introduction to Inspire Youth Arts at a Freelance Music and Dance Artist Open Afternoon where you will have the opportunity to showcase your skills and meet the team.

Music artists:

Please be ready to share top tips for delivering a songwriting/music session with young people with staff and attendees on the day and engage in small group discussions around session warmups/content and delivery.

Dance artists:

Please wear clothing you can dance in and be ready to take part in a group warm up and create and teach a short phrase of movement in any style to a partner/small group.

Although we cannot guarantee freelance work for all those in attendance, we will invite some artists to a follow-up paid session which will provide an induction to Inspire and the expectations of working as a freelance artist for Inspire Youth Arts. All freelance work is project/session based for set periods of time.

If you have any questions, please contact us on iya@inspireculture.org.uk
