This year's Summer Reading Challenge saw thousands of children across Nottinghamshire reading for pleasure, and from 1 December, the Ready, Set, Read! team will be back with the online winter mini challenge!

Over the summer, The Reading Agency teamed up with the Youth Sports Trust for the Summer Reading Challenge, keeping children reading over the holidays and celebrating the power of play, sports and games. The challenge was a big hit in Inspire libraries, with staff and volunteers welcoming 10,135 children from across the county.

Now the superstar team are back for the Winter Mini Challenge, and we’re hoping we can encourage the same avid young readers to take part over the winter months.

Children aged 4-11 are invited to join Alesha, Naomi, Naveen, Noah, Ollie and Sophia as they wrap up warm for a winter walk to the library and unleash the power of play, sport and physical activity through reading.

To take part, children just need to read at least three books of their choice between 1 December 2023 and 19 February 2024, and add them to their online profile at wintermini.org.uk. Reaching their reading goal will unlock a limited-edition virtual badge and a special Winter Mini Challenge certificate to print off and keep. You can also play games, find book reviews, activities and content from the best children’s authors and illustrators.

Children can read books they already have at home, from school or from the library including our range of e-Books and e-Audiobooks. Inspire librarians have also put together a special collection of books, with plenty of ideas to keep kids interested. You can see the range of e-books and e-audiobooks we have available for children here.
