The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement comprises three units:
· Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
· Unit 2: Assess occupational competence in the work environment
· Unit 3: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
Once all three units are achieved you will become a qualified assessor enabling you to assess in a classroom or in a work environment. This is one of the most popular qualifications if you are involved in the delivery of apprenticeships or work-based assessments.
You will need a good standard of English, maths and IT. You will need to have good communication skills both written and verbal.
You will also be required to be working or attending a voluntary placement where you can assess learners undertaking accredited qualifications in a classroom and/or work based environment. It is recommended that you hold a level 3 or equivalent in the subject matter you are assessing or be able demonstrate competence in your specialist area.

will also be required to plan 2-4 observations depending on the unit

You will be required to complete one written assignment and 2-4 competence assessments.
You will also need to be working or attending a voluntary placement where you can assess learners.
This qualification is specified as a requirement by some awarding organisations and sectors skills councils in order to assess certain qualifications – successful achievement will help you evidence this demand.
