About this course

About this course

On this course students will discover a range of hand embroidery stitches building upon the basic stitches. Students will learn how to create a variety of stitches. Students will then use those stitches to create some sample pieces either using templates or free hand. 


What will be covered on the course?   

  • Students will discover how to effectively split and use embroidery threads and how to work with an embroidery hoop. They will also be able to demonstrate how to effectively sew at least 3 different hand embroidery stitches on sample pieces 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

  • Understand how to use stranded embroidery threads effectively 
  • Describe how to work at least 3 different hand embroidery stitches 
  • Discover how templates can be used in hand embroidery 
  • Produce a sample using a range of the hand embroidery stitches learnt 
  • Demonstrate understanding of hand embroidery through discussion and practical work 
  • What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course? 

This course is suitable for those with limited embroidery skills which they wish to revive or build upon 


What resources/course materials do learners need to bring for the course? 

  • Plain fabric, embroidery threads, hand sewing needles, scissors, embroidery hoop

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
