Mixed Media - Landscape Collage - Burton Joyce Library - Adult Learning

Mixed media means using different art mediums, materials and techniques to create art. You will be using mixed media to create a collaged landscape.

In the first week, you will start by piecing together a new landscape from photographs and learning about composition. In the following weeks, you will build your own collaged landscape based on the new landscape that you have created. Every week you will explore and experiment with different mixed media techniques and art materials to make interesting marks and create collaged papers which you will use to for your collage.

The course will build your confidence in using different art materials and techniques, and you will have the opportunity to probably try out ones that you have never used before. You will be introduced to other artists work for inspiration and will be guided through demonstrations and individual tuition to encourage experimentation and to build your knowledge and skills for future art and designs projects.

You will be taught simple perspective and composition skills as well as how to use a variety of mixed media techniques and materials. No prior skills or knowledge needed as you will be taught how to use the materials and shown how to do each different mixed media technique.

You will need:

1) 3 x colour photocopies of at least 3 different landscapes – for example, a beach scene, a countryside scene, a cityscape etc. Use holiday photographs, images from holiday brochures, magazines, book etc.

2) Notebook and pen

3) A glue stick

To book and join one of our courses, you must live in England permanently and either:

Live inside the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) area (Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire).

You cannot enrol if you live in these devolved areas:

Residency Requirements (Additional Information)

If you live in the UK on a visa, we’ll need evidence of your visa to confirm funding. You can upload this when applying, and you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire.

Some exceptions include:

• Your visa must last until after your course ends.

• Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for at least 6 months while their claim is being processed.

• You are supported by your local authority under Section 23C or 23CA of the Children Act 1989, or under the Care Act 2014.

Anyone who does not meet the funding criteria would need to pay full course fees.
