Join us for this fun FREE 2-hour family course at Stapleford Library this May. We will be making kites and lovely animal bookmarks! This is a fun course for both adults and children together aimed at improving maths skills for parents and children up to Key Stage 2.
You will do activities that build and strengthen your mental maths and knowledge of space, shape & measuring along the way. The simple kite-making activity will involve measuring skills, using times tables to create the design, and learning some shape related maths words. In addition, you will use ideas of symmetries and fractions while creating a bookmark.
What will learners achieve by the end of the course?
Learners will:
- be more confident in measuring to construct 2D shapes
- improve their mental maths
- apply symmetries and fractions in decorating kites and making bookmarks.
What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?
Children must be mature enough to start learning their times tables and understanding respective maths concepts, take part in making activities, and engage with fun explanations.
Adults must be accompanied by a child (a maximum of two children per adult) and children must be accompanied by an adult. Please complete an enrolment form for each adult attending only.
This course is for people who don’t already have a level 2 qualification in math’s (GCSE C/4 or above) or are not confident in using maths at this level.
