About this course

This course is an advanced guide to decorating cakes with an orchid sugar craft flower.

You will learn skills and techniques using either the Cymbidium orchid cutters or the Moth orchid cutters.

Through attending this course, you will have produced an orchid to your specification and design to decorate and enhance any special occasion or celebration cake. We will cover:

• How to create the ovary of the orchid

• How to make the throat of the orchid

• How to create the head of the orchid using the thinner petal cutter

• How to create the two arms of the orchid using the wider petal cutter

• How to create the two legs of the orchid using the thinner petal cutter

• How to dust the orchid to bring the flower to life

• How to make an orchid bud

Squires Petal Paste (Gum paste)
Board
Rolling Pin
Corn flour for dusting
Edible glue
Paintbrushes for glue and dusting
PME Foam cell pad
Modelling tools: dresden tool, ball tool.
Wires 24 and 26 gauge
Veiner
Wire cutters
Petal dusting powders of personal choice, examples: Foliage green, Lemon Yellow, Orange,
Pink, Peach, Purple.
Cocktail sticks
Floral Tape
Note pad and pen.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
