Inspire Culture, Learning and Libraries is backing Get the Nation Learning Week, running 2–6 November, by spotlighting local learning opportunities across Nottinghamshire. Led by the Learning and Work Institute, the campaign champions a future where everyone can learn throughout life.

Celebrating our 10th birthday this year, Inspire has helped Nottinghamshire residents of all ages read, learn, create and connect since 2016. Thousands of learners have attended our courses in local libraries, community venues and online.

We’ve invested in new community learning centres and created dedicated learning spaces and courses through library refurbishments. We’ve also delivered major programmes, including Multiply and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) provision for Ukrainian and Hong Kong British communities.

What our learners say

“I moved area and joining an Inspire Learning course was the best thing I ever did. I really hoped to meet like minded people who were just really nice and kind, and I did. I’ve gained some lovely friendships. I always wanted to have my own little group where people can come and craft if they want to, or to sit and chat. The course inspired me, and I now co-run a group with a friend. I’ve been itching to get on another class.”

“I’m so happy to achieve the Level 2 Certificate in English Functional Skills. It’s making me more confident to go forward. It will help me in my pursuit of a better education in the future because I’m thinking of going to uni. I’m really proud of myself.”

Inspire Learner, English Functional Skills Level 2 course

"I have been out of work for the past nine years due to my mental health problems, and on my road to recovery, I decided to enrol on a course through Inspire with the hope of learning new skills I could take forward into future employment, and also increase my confidence. I chose an online IT course, which I attended live sessions from home. I was really nervous, but my tutor put me at ease right from the start. She was patient and supportive, and made each session interesting and enjoyable. As a result, I have developed my skills, increased my confidence, and can now start to feel hopeful about my future.

"I have loved learning so much, I have now enrolled on a second course through Inspire at one of their centres, that I am excited about starting!"
