Inspire Poetry Festival

Inspire Poetry Festival 2018

Tuesday 25 - Saturday 29 September

We're once again ringing the changes with this year's Inspire Poetry Festival. Not only have we set new dates - moving from July to the end of September - we're also taking the festival to even wider audiences, with poetry events being hosted at six Inspire venues in 2018.

Over five days in September, we'll be bringing inspiring poetry to Southwell, West Bridgford, Beeston, Mansfield Central and Worksop Library, and The Old Library young people's arts and cultural centre in Mansfield.

This year's line up will be revealed over the coming weeks, and the programme promises a wealth and variety of poetry talent, with readings, performances, workshops, poetry surgeries, children's activities, poetry takeovers and more.

Our aim is to inspire audiences with wonderful words in a variety of ways - all in the wonderful setting of Inspire Libraries.

Watch this space for announcements, follow our social media, and sign-up to the Inspire Poetry Festival email notifications here.

In the mean time, see below to find out more about last year's programme and the festival's origins.

Inspire Poetry Festival 2017

Bringing Poetry to Southwell, West Bridgford, Mansfield Central and West Bridgford Libraries

Building on the success of the well-established Southwell Library Poetry Festival, in 2017 we welcomed almost 800 people to the first Inspire Poetry Festival taking place across four of our libraries across Nottinghamshire.

With the support of National Lottery funding, through Arts Council England, we presented a fantastically packed programme of poetry – readings, performances, workshops, family activities and special events - giving poetry readers the chance to hear a rich variety of new and established voices, and helping writers hone their skills in inventive ways.
