This course is suitable for those with no previous experience of playing the guitar. Through a pratical introduction to playing the guitar (either acoustic or electric), you will build up the skills and knowledge to enable you to play along to a range of songs and musical exercises.
This course is suitable for those with no previous experience, starting with the absolute basics of -
- String names
- Playing ‘open’ strings
- Learning about and playing to the beat / pulse
- Fretting notes
- Leaning about and playing very simple melodies
- Learning and playing chord shapes
- Playing to online video mini songs & exercises complete with backing tracks (large screen provided in the library meeting room)
- Beginner strumming / rhythm guitar playing exercises using the above chord knowledge
Learners will have access, from home, to all the online resources used on the course, for practicing
Learners will need access to a guitar - these can be loaned from Inspire Music for a small fee. Please call 0115 977 3287 for more information.
There will be online sessions on the 18th May and 15th June.
As this course is partially online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
