About this course

Introduction to Mental Health will furnish you with an understanding of the common mental health issues, such as stress, anxiety and depression, that can have an impact on our everyday lives. You'll gain knowledge of key mental health terms, how to take care of your own mental health and wellbeing, how to support others, such as family and friends, and the different types of support available.

During the session, we will look at:

The meaning of the words ‘mental health’ and ‘mental ill health’

An overview of the brain components

An overview of different types of illnesses and their signs, symptoms and behaviours

The impact that mental ill health has on the individuals, and their families

How to adapt communication styles and where to go for support

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop or computer will be required to access the course. The link for you to join the live sessions will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

Residency Requirements (Additional Information)

If you live in the UK on a visa, we’ll need evidence of your visa to confirm funding. You can upload this when applying, and you’ll need to complete a short questionnaire.

Some exceptions include:

Your visa must last until after your course ends.
Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for at least 6 months while their claim is being processed.
You are supported by your local authority under Section 23C or 23CA of the Children Act 1989, or under the Care Act 2014.

Anyone who does not meet the funding criteria would need to pay full course fees.
