Do you want to build your confidence with maths and have your achievement and hard work recognised?
‘Modular Maths - At Your Pace’ allows you the flexibility to work towards bitesize qualifications as you go along. You can also build these up to achieve further Awards and Certificates.
Each 5-6 week block will focus on a few topics to help you achieve a single-unit award (1-2 units). You will have the choice to continue attending consecutive 5-6 week blocks so that you can work towards a larger themed Award (4-7 credits) or Certificate (13-15 credits) in Mathematics Skills with City & Guilds.
You can work towards City & Guilds Entry 3, Level 1 or Level 2 Maths.
A little more about the course:
We will start with an individual assessment which you can complete at your own pace. This will help you to recognise what you can do already and what you need to work on next. These will be continuously updated throughout the course. Topics will change every few weeks (between arithmetic; shape space and measure; fractions, decimals and percentages; and data representation), but when a topic cycles back round, you will pick up where you left off and you won’t move on until you feel ready.
Twice a year there will be an opportunity to take a Functional Skills exam. If you are not ready, or don’t want to sit an exam, we will use your completed course work to give you a City & Guilds qualification for what you have achieved.
This course will run for each term at Eastwood Library. Because the course is focused on meeting personal targets learners can continue on the course until the end of the Summer Term in July 2024 without needing to complete a new enrolment.
This course is for people who don’t have a level 2 qualification in maths (GCSE C/4 or above). You will self-declare this on the enrolment form.
To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:
You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking. If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.
To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
