Nature Conservation - Introduction to Foraging - Ransom Hall - Community Learning

About this course

This course aims to introduce the learner to the variety of edible plants that grow wild on Ransom Wood Estate, the ethos that drives the management of the site and the identification of  common, edible plant species and their uses. The course will also highlight conservation issues associated with foraging and the law behind the protection of our wild flora and fauna.

By the end of this course you will:

Be able to identify a minimum of 5 plant species

Have an understanding of  their use in the kitchen.

Have an  understanding of conservation issues and the legal framework associated with harvesting wild food. 

You will need clothes suitable for outdoors collecting, including a waterproof  jacket and sturdy shoes / boots. You may wish to bring gloves to protect your hands.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
