About this course

Spring celebrates hope and renewal. Through time and across the world, Spring has inspired poets to capture that spirit of the new. Over six sessions we will use some famous (and not so famous) examples of Spring poetry to get us writing poetry. This course aims to help you record what you notice and want to remember about this special time. The course is suitable for beginners, but those with some poetry experience are welcome also.

Over the duration of the course, we will look at:

- Using others’ poems as inspiration for your own

- Using images and memories to ignite ideas for poems

- Using your five senses to write

- Recognising the clues in the shape of a poem – poetic form

- Understanding and using metaphor in poems

- Giving feedback to others, and receiving feedback on your work

You will need a notepad and a pen/pencil to participate on this course.
