About this course

This course is a beginner guide to cupcake decorating. You will learn skills and techniques using ready to roll icing and sugar florist paste mixed together or modelling paste, to produce a Lion cupcake topper to celebrate World Lion Day.


Learners will have produced a selection of Lion themed decorations to enhance any celebration cupcake.   In the session, we will cover:

  • Produce a fondant Lion topper 
  • Learn how to pipe buttercream on to a cupcake

You will need:

  • Cupcakes 
  • Buttercream
  • Piping bag and nozzle of choice 
  • Ready to roll icing 100g and squires sugar florist paste 50g mixed or modelling paste- white
  • Board and rolling pin
  • Corn flour pouch 
  • Modelling tools – ball tool, dresden tool, 
  • Edible glue
  • Foam pad 
  • Cocktail stick
  • Craft knife or small knife
  • Rejuvenating spirts and gold dust. 
  • Cling Film 
  • Large piping tip nozzle or circle cutter 
  • Face and body 50g approx. head- Light brown and ivory dust or gel mixed. 
  • Mane 40g approx. – yellow, orange, and light brown. 
  • Body 5 different size balls 1x  35g, 2x at 8g and 2x at 4g 
  • Paintbrushes 
  • Dusting powders colouring, dusty pink or peach for rosy checks. Gel colours black.
  • Note pad and pen

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
