About this course

There is a cocktail of chemical in our environment and a move towards using natural alternatives. Over many years, people have handed down recipes with simple ingredients.

This course explores using natural ingredients, analysing our common cleaners and laundry products and then  analysing the effectiveness of natural alternatives.

What will be covered on the course?  What will be taught to learners?

  • Analysis of cleaners and laundry products.
  • Exploration of natural alternatives and traditional methods.
  • Creating natural and safe recipes for multi-purpose cleaners, laundry liquids, specific cleaning areas and trouble shooters.
  • What will learners achieve by the end of the course?
  • Recognition of safe products.
  • Analysis of alternative and natural ingredients.
  • Safely create own suitable recipes
  • Evaluate effectiveness of natural cleaners.

Resources required:

Washing soda, lemons, white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, borax substitute, liquid castile soap, lemon peel, essential oils e.g. either rosemary, lavender, tea tree or a combination.

Please note - Washing soda, bicarbonate of soda and borax substitute can be purchased from some supermarkets, Wilkinsons, Boyes under the Dri-pak brand or home brand. Another supplier is online at  https://www.biggreensmile.com/

I have found that the cheapest brand of castile soap is ‘Origins’

I have found the cheapest brand of essential oils is ‘Freshskin’

Please note: Only use pure essential oils and don’t use perfume oils.
