Information about bookkeeping practices will be shared through explanation, demonstration and group discussions. Learners will receive a variety of documentation to process so they will be able to learn, develop and practice basic bookkeeping skills required for employment.
Course topics include operating a petty cash system, completing and checking documentation, maintaining day books, posting from source documents to balance off ledger accounts (sales, purchases and general ledger) and extracting a trial balance.
At the end of this course learners will be able to:
No previous experience is needed.
No knowledge of, or qualification in, Maths required.
Learners will need access to a basic calculator and an email address. Although handouts and financial documentation will be provided, a pen and paper or other suitable device to make notes will be useful.
One hour of self-study time will be beneficial to the learner in addition to weekly attendance to the course.
