Open a whole world of colour and pattern with this innovative approach to collage. Step by step instructions demonstrate how to create countless patterns on paper or canvas and how to use colour to make your collages come alive. You will be taught how gestural brushstrokes and mark-making gives the impression of spontaneity in your compositions. You will benefit from this course as your style of painting will become looser, full of energy and colour. Experiment the pure joy of mark-making by playing with colour and texture using a combination of different art materials and techniques on a single work. This course is suitable for Beginners or those with more experience.
By the end of the course, you will learn how to compose a semi-abstract image and how to manipulate the acrylic paint by using different techniques to create captivating compositions. You will complete at least one work on canvas. We will look at how one might begin on a ‘blank canvas’, how to build up a work paying attention to sketching, tone and colour, how to spot problems along the way and finishing touches.
•Working out innovative, dynamic compositions, full of energy and colours
•Using a bright, colourful palette, with dynamic and bold mark making
•Painting techniques: impasto, scumbling, sgrafitto, layering and blending
