To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in the UK with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).


If you’ve ever wanted to have a go at writing poetry but weren’t sure where to start, this fun and informal session is for you. We will use objects and prompts to create a selection of poems, as well as writing a ‘class poem’ with everyone’s contributions. This course is for everyone who is interested. No experience of creative writing is needed.

What will be covered on the course?  What will be taught to learners? 

  • Using pictures as prompts to start creative writing  
  • Why poems come in all shapes and sizes and don’t need to rhyme 
  • Writing different types of poems – list poem, haiku  
  • Using your senses to start writing

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

  • You will know how to use prompts to start your writing 
  • You will have written and contributed to poems in different forms 
  • You will feel confident to write more poems 

As this course is online learners will require access to a laptop, smart phone, computer or tablet.  The course will be accessed through Zoom.  You will also require, paper and a pen/pencil  .
