Nottinghamshire is awash with literary locations from the Arboretum to the Zara building. In this course you’ll discover many of the places that have influenced the life and work of our writers. Via presentations, illustrations and videos you’ll visit pubs, churches, theatres and some more unlikely venues, as we span the county learning about our writers and their literature.
What will be covered on the course?
You will discover how local destinations have inspired different writing as Nottinghamshire’s remarkable literary heritage is highlighted. Hear about the lost, little-known and well-loved locations that have links with different forms of literature including novels, poetry, scripts and non-fiction.
What will learners achieve by the end of the course?
There will be illustrated presentations and discussions as you gain knowledge of the many literary locations within the county. The result will be a greater appreciation of Nottinghamshire and how its writers and writing have shaped the world.
What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?
No prior knowledge is required, just an interest in literature and/or Nottinghamshire.
Suggested Reading for the course:
Follow the Moon and Stars by John Baird
Exploring Nottinghamshire Writers by Rowena Edlin-White
