About this course

Paper Stencil Screen printing is a simple, easily accessible introduction to screen printing.  No previous experience is necessary! We will be creating a three or 4 colour print from initial photographs or drawings…the choice is yours.

You will design your own image to make prints from and learn about how to make a simple colour separation for your print. You will select and mix your own printing inks and explore the potential of the process through discussion of other artists and designers work and by demonstrations, personal experimentation and individual tuition.

By the end of the course everyone will have explored and gained confidence with this simple block colour screen printing process, produced finished creative prints and gained skills for future art and design work.

What will be covered on the course?

  • Looking at and discussing how other artists and designers have used paper stencil screen printing to produce creative imagery.
  • Producing a design drawing/template to develop a 3 /4 layered, coloured screen print from.
  • Selecting and mixing screen printing inks and using them safely and effectively to print own work.
  • Becoming familiar and confident with the materials and processes and learning the correct terminology to talk about own work.
