Creative Printing (Indian wood blocks, gel plates & stencil)

About this course

This course follows on from the introduction of Indian Block Printing.  But it is suitable for those with no previous experience. On this course you will learn about and explore the process of using Gel Plates as a printing tool. You will learn how to use hand craved blocks from Indian and stencils we expand your skills on creative printing, which can be on paper or fabric.   

By the end of the course, you will learn a variety of ways to produce surface designs, paper or fabrics which can be used in many other projects such as journal/book making, card making or patchwork.   

What will be covered on the course

• Be able to identity patterns by repeating units; symmetry, rotation, reflection, tessellation of shapes.   
• Look at ideas of using waste paint 
• Also look at layering methods for designs 
• Develop techniques of masking, using stencils and reverse printing 
• Look at benefits of creative activities for mental health 

Learners should bring:

• Apron or a big shirt  
• Gelli Plate & Brayer - if you have these, otherwise a set will be provided for you to use on the course 
• Wet wipes 
• Printing Media - Fabric or Cartridge paper or Copier Pape

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
