About this course

Whether you are an absolute beginner or finding your way with poetry writing, this lively and collaborative day will give you the energy, confidence and inspiration to continue. Via the work of published poets, developmental feedback from the tutor and the group and stimulating exercises we will work together to help you find your own voice in a supportive atmosphere

What will be covered on the course?

What is a poem and where do you find it?
Using poems, ideas, memory and images as prompts
Sound, rhythm, form and structure
Working on a poem – writing your first draft
Working on a poem – development after the first draft and editing
Developing a developmental feedback approach to your own and others’ work

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Learners will:

All have written at last one poem
Have a number of drafts of poems underway

Learners will:

Have experimented with using existing poems, images and other prompts to make a start on their poems
All have written at last one poem
Have a number of drafts of poems underway
Be able to recognize a number of poetic forms
Will be able to offer developmental feedback for themselves and others

Ability to read and write in English
