About this course


The course is for people who want to try out creative writing for the first time. We will focus on short writing exercises using pictures, different topics and prompts. You will be using different types of genres writing and types of creative writing including flash fiction, poetry, haiku and short stories. No experience is required 


We will look at: 

  • Awareness of types of creative writing 
  • Writing different forms 
  • Techniques used in creative writing 
  • Using prompts and pictures to help with writing 
  • Role of audience and feedback 
  • Importance of proof-reading 
  • Sharing your work in the group and listening to other’s work and providing constructive feedback 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

  • Produce at least 4 or more pieces of work 
  • Understand the importance of constructive feedback 
  • Demonstrate an ability to proof-read own work 
  • Use different forms of writing  
  • Differentiate between different forms of writing 
  • Apply the creative writing techniques  

No experience required in writing

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.


Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
