Do you enjoy writing short stories, or fancy having a go?
Perhaps you enjoy reading short stories and wondered how you might write your own?
If so, come along to Burton Joyce Library and be introduced to some of the different elements of short story writing. You learn about creating characters, dialogue and plotting. You will also engage in a variety of creative writing exercises with the target of producing and editing your own short story.
What will be covered on the course?
What will learners achieve by the end of the course?
Through the teaching and writing exercises you’ll learn how to plot (understanding the difference between character-driven and plot-driven writing), generate ideas, create characters and learn how to engage readers, developing your own ideas and being inspired. You will even create your own characters and story ideas, and have a go at creative writing and editing.
An interest in reading and/or writing short stories is desirable but no prior experience is required or expected.
