About this course

The course shows you how gestural brush-strokes and mark-making gives the impression of spontaneity in your compositions. Create abstract floral compositions by experimenting with media and tools. Learn how to create impact in a composition by capturing vibrant colours, movement, textures. Floral art in an abstract style brings the spotlight onto the colours

What will be covered on the course?

Artist research: Petra Tholken
Working out innovative, dynamic compositions, full of energy and colours
Using a bright, colourful palette, with dynamic and bold mark making
Painting techniques: impasto, scumbling, sgrafitto, drips and blending

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Learners will know how to use quick and bold marks with thick paint to create expressive floral compositions in acrylics
We will explore how texture, colour and line can really help to achieve a visually interesting composition.

Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Umber, and Titanium White acrylic paint, white acrylic
