This course is suitable for people who have no previous knowledge or experience of playing a keyboard. Over the ten weeks, you will identify what genre of music you are interested in and develop skills in basic music theory and reading music.

By the end of the course, you will:

Know the instrument and how to play with proper posture.
Know basic music theory.
Be able to do sight-reading.
Understand the character, style of the different music period.
Be able to understand all the information on the music sheet.
Have a good sense of rhythm, articulation and dynamic.

You will need:

Tutorial book “Alfred’s basic adult piano course level1”
Piano/Keyboard
Metronome or Metronome app

This course will not be running on the 17th February (half term).

This is an online course. A suitable electronic device such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone with internet access will be required. Learners will be required to download and use Zoom (free software).

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in the UK with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England.
