About this course

This course will introduce the Romantic poet John Keats and to explore some of his poetry. As this is an introductory course, we will cover poetry techniques and how these are used by writers. No prior knowledge is necessary.


What will be covered on the course?   


  • The life of John Keats and how he fits into the world of the Romantic Poets. 
  • How to examine and discuss a selection of Keats’s poetry focusing on his use of language to explore themes of love and nature. 
  • How to explore the library catalogue (both on-line digital content and how to order books to borrow from the library service) to help extend your knowledge of the subject 


What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

  • A range of strategies for analysing literature:  
  • How a writer uses language to give meaning or multiple meanings 
  • How a writer uses techniques such as: similes and metaphors, rhyme and others. 
  • Supporting your opinions with quotations from the text 
  • Key facts and ideas about John Keats the poet.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
