About this course

Do you need a Level 2 maths qualification?

This is an intensive course for learners who require a Level 2 maths qualification.  You will cover all the functional skills topics to prepare you for a City and Guilds examination, which will take place at one of our Nottinghamshire libraries, during w/c 22nd July.

Your 12 lessons will be delivered every Friday 09:30 to 15:30 with two half hour breaks.  You must ensure that you can attend every session and complete weekly homework.

Topics covered include:

  • Number: the four operations; working with fractions, decimals, percentages; using ratio and proportion.
  • Shape, space and measure:  working with measures; calculating area and volume; understanding plan and elevation; using scale and co-ordinates.
  • Handling data:  calculating averages; working with probability; using and drawing graphs and charts.
  • We will also cover exam techniques to help you achieve your qualification.

The lessons are delivered face-to-face. You will need your own calculator, pen and notepad.  A textbook will be provided to you on completion of your online initial assessment. The initial assessment will indicate the level you will study at.

To get the most from your course please ensure that you can attend every session (barring sickness or emergencies) and that you have a quiet place to work undisturbed.

Please note, the following weeks are dedicated to self-study and exam revision:

24th May 2024

7th June 2024

21th June 2024
